NORTHWOOD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A fire that took down a barn in Northwood earlier this week is now being considered suspicious.

Police are still trying to figure out how the fire started, but they do believe it was set intentionally.

Sunday night, the Northwood Fire Department, as well as several other departments, worked overnight to put out the fire. The barn was vacant, and had antique cars and drums of flammable fluid inside.

Now, police say they don't think this was an accident.

"There's no power, no gas, so it pretty much leads you to believe that it was a fire set by somebody intentionally," said Northwood Fire Investigator John Romstadt.

Because there were gas cans and other flammable fluids in the barn, it's a challenge for investigators to find out what exactly caused the fire, but they do have suspects in mind.

"We do have a lot of leads with people calling in, indicating some suspects who may have set it. We also have some eyewitnesses that were at the property just prior to the fire that have identified some suspects for us," Romstadt said.

They're not sure yet if this is connected to the house fire on the same property that was burned down four years ago, which was ruled arson.

At this point, while officials do believe this is a case of arson, they're still investigating. They're hoping to have enough evidence to make an arrest by early next week.
