MOUNT BLANCHARD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Riverdale Schools teacher charged with child endangering after she was caught on video grabbing a kindergarten student and lifting him up by the face will resign on Monday, according to the Findlay Courier.

Barbara Williams was charged with one count of child endangering after video of the incident surfaced. Williams has entered a not guilty plea to the charge.

Riverdale Superintendent Eric Hoffman told the Findlay Courier he "strongly" believes the board will accept the resignation at its 7 p.m., Monday meeting in the district's central office board room.

Williams was suspended from her teaching job at Riverdale Schools following the incident. The boy's parents have called for stronger charges against her, but many others in the community are coming together to support Williams. A banner with hand prints and kids' signatures hangs in a downtown window showing support.

Some people say they are appalled by Williams' actions and know she was in the wrong, but they say it was very out of character for her and they think there's more to the story.

"She's a wonderful, wonderful lady," said Angi Brown, a parent in the district. "She got a raw deal. Yes, her reaction to the situation was wrong. She admits it - talk to her about it. But she had to go through some really hard times this year with this child."

Some parents believe the district was not giving Williams the resources she needed to deal with the children in her class.
