A vacant home in central Toledo went up in flames Saturday morning. The house is a total loss and will be torn down.
The fire began around 5 a.m. at a home on the 1400 block of North Erie Street, near Magnolia Street.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours Saturday morning, battling heavy flames and smoke that appeared to be coming from the top floor of the house.
At one point, firefighters had to evacuate the house, because part of the roof began to collapse.
Firefighters were able to safely control the fire. No one was hurt.
Fire investigators are looking into what caused the vacant house to catch fire. Firefighters on scene said the cause of fire appeared to be suspicious.
