BRUNSWICK, OH (WOIO) -

Brunswick City Council voted Monday night to repair and reinstate their tornado siren system.

They voted to spend $24,554 for the repairs, which includes a $4,000 contingency.

The city says they will begin the repairs as soon as possible.

Two weeks ago, residents came to city council after a tornado ripped through the city, and there were no working sirens.

Luckily, no one was hurt in those storms. However, there were thousands of dollars in damages.

The sirens had been turned off for over six years after hackers set them off in the middle of the night.

The city does have a CodeRED system, where residents can be alerted by an automated phone calling system, text message, or by email of emergency situations.
