Get ready for another road construction headache:
This one is going to affect anyone driving through downtown Toledo on I-75, and
it begins Monday morning.
When you swing around I-75 from eastbound I-475,
traffic will be squeezed down to two lanes up to Dorr Street. It's all part of
a major $31 million road re-construction project.
In another week, the same project will begin on
I-75 northbound from Dorr Street to the I-475 split.
"It's just due to the fact that pavement
has reached its life cycle, which means it's time to be replaced," said Theresa
Pollick, spokesperson for ODOT. "[It's] not a simple overlay to take care of
it. It's got to be completely re-constructed."
The Detroit Avenue ramp to southbound I-75 will
be closed during the project.
It's recommended you add another 5-10 minutes to
your drive time through the construction zone.
"And then once we finish the work on
the inside of the pavement, we're going to move traffic to the inside and shut
down the outside of the pavement, which will involve more ramp restrictions as
we head into the coming years," Pollick added.
The I-75 project will be complete in July of
