HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -  In only two rounds, Brad Tavares' return to the octagon was complete.

But, it wasn't the comeback the Big Island fighter was hoping for.

After being in control for most of the bout, Tavares couldn't overcome a rally from Tim Boetsch that ended with a knockout in the second round at UFC Fight Night on Saturday.

The Waiakea came out of the gates strong, busting open opponent Boetsch's face with a swift elbow to the eyebrow in round one.

Tavares also had an early advantage in round two, but Boetsch eventually fought back and connected with a left hook to Tavares' chin, a shot that sparked a flurry of punches to the face.

The referee stopped the fight at 3:15 into the round as Boetsch would win by knockout.

It's Tavares' second straight loss in the octagon.

His record now falls to 12-4.
