Bengals trim roster to 53

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Bengals trimmed their roster to the NFL limit of 53 Saturday.

The Bengals terminated the contract of safety Danieal Manning and offensive tackle Will Svitek. Manning and Svitek will be released to the free agency

Quarterback AJ McCaron was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.  McCaron will remain with the team for rehab and meetings, but may not practice for Weeks 1 through 6 of the regular season.  Beginning the week following Week 6, he will begin a window of eligibility to return to practice under roster exception, if medically cleared. 

Guard Trey Hopkins was placed on the injured reserve list.

Cornerback Chris-Lewis Harris was placed on the suspended list for violating the league's substance abuse policy in July. Harris will miss the first two games of the season. 

In addition, the Bengals waived 13 players:

  • H-back Orson Charles
  • Offensive tackle Dan Drance
  • Wide receiver Cobi Hamilton
  • Cornerback Victor Hampton
  • Defensive tackle David King
  • Wide receiver Colin Lockett
  • Cornerback Onterio McCalebb
  • Defensive end Dontay Moch
  • Defensive end Sam Montgomery
  • Center Trevor Robinson
  • Defensive tackle Devon Still
  • Fullback Nikita Whitlock
  • Halfback James Wilder Jr.
Veteran running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis was released Friday.
