Kahne punches ticket to NASCAR's Chase for the Championship

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Talk about a timely win on the track. Kasey Kahne, sitting outside NASCAR's top 16, is now guaranteed to join the Chase for the Championship thanks to a win in Atlanta.

Kahne blew past Matt Kenseth during a green-white-checkered finish, taking his first win of the season and guaranteeing he has a chance to win NASCAR's championship this year. And for the driver, it didn't come a moment too soon.

"Just an unbelievable way to make the Chase, and to do it in Atlanta, which is a tough track and a track that I love coming to," Kahne said. "It just feels really good to get a victory here tonight."

The top fourteen, including Matt Kenseth who hasn't won, are all locked in, so this week's race at Richmond is for two spots.

Ryan Newman and Greg Biffle are there now, and Biffle leads Clint Bowyer by 23 points. Most likely, for one of those to be knocked out, someone below will need to win.
