COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Missouri receiver Darius White, playing his fifth season of college football, received his first career start in the team's opener last Saturday.
The senior caught two passes for 83 yards against South Dakota State, both for touchdowns. After watching the Tigers' top three receivers depart during the offseason, White now sees himself atop the depth chart.
White joined Missouri (1-0) in 2012 after two seasons at Texas where he caught a total of six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Since then, he's matured on and off the field, said defensive coordinator Dave Steckel, who recruited him.
The 24th-ranked Tigers travel this week to face Toledo (1-0), which limited White to a single reception for no gain a year ago.
