Ohio State and Notre Dame announced Thursday that the two historic schools will play each other in a home and home series.
The first game will be placed in Columbus on Sept. 3, 2022, and the other match up in South Bend on Sept. 23, 2023.
"Any time you talk about Notre Dame and Ohio State meeting in a football game, that event automatically is going to have huge national significance," Irish coach Brian Kelly said in a statement. "For fans and alumni of the two schools, not to mention college football fans in general, these games will be great attractions."
The two schools have played five times in history, the last meeting took place in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl where the Buckeyes won 34-20. Ohio State also owns a 3-2 advantage in the series, winning the last three.
In addition, after the Irish plays their match up with the Michigan Wolverines this Saturday, it will be the last time the two play each other for at least a few years.
