This past Sunday was a perfect setting for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
More than 18,000 of us gathered downtown, which is way more people than Chicago had for its Race for the Cure. If you were there, or if you watched the race coverage on WTOL, it was an emotional experience.
Let's face it, breast cancer has touched just about everyone in some way.
And as I stood on the grass at Fifth Third Field and watched the survivors join together in the outfield, I was filled with a sense of hope.
Hope for a long life for these strong women who put on their pink survivor t-shirt and said, "Here I am. I am a survivor."
Hope, that one day a cure will be found.
And finally, hope that our community will be reminded that this is a place filled with good people.
I'm glad I was there.
