This week city council looked like a shoot-out at the OK Corral.
Councilman Michael Collins keeps asking tough questions about budgets, management of projects and negotiations with unions.
Mayor Carty Finkbeiner doesn't seem to like this much. His responses have degenerated into nasty, personal attacks.
That's the wrong approach. Collins is doing his job, as he sees it. The next time he is up for re-election the voters will decide if they approve of his aggressive approach to getting answers.
As much as he wants to, Mayor Finkbeiner cannot just dismiss Collins.
Carty chose to run again and the economic mess is the card he was dealt. As mayor, Carty's choices are fair game for city council. Instead of snarky responses, why doesn't the mayor just answer the questions?
